Educational Q&A

Pilgrimage undertaken with discipline (tapas) and reverent contact with sacred waters and holy persons yields purifying merit that supports both ethical renown (yaśas) and worldly well-being (śrī), especially for a ruler committed to dharma.

Lomaśa encourages the king he addresses by citing exemplary ancient kings who gained fame and prosperity through tīrtha-yātrā and austerity; he assures that similar merit will accrue to the listener through the same practice.
