Adharma’s Short-Lived Prosperity and the Restorative Path of Tīrtha
The verse highlights ethical humility: true greatness is not self-asserted but recognized by the worthy (even Indra). When praised, a dhārmic person responds with restraint and reverence rather than pride.
Yudhiṣṭhira reacts to laudatory words addressed to a Pāṇḍava (contextually, a brother being praised). He says he is so moved that he cannot frame a reply, and he underscores the praised person’s eminence by noting that even Indra remembers him.
