Pilgrimage (tīrthayātrā) is presented as a dharmic discipline validated by exemplary ancestors (Manu and the rājarṣis). It increases puṇya and removes fear, implying that righteous practice and sacred travel cultivate inner steadiness and moral courage.
Lomaśa addresses Yudhiṣṭhira during the forest period, commending the practice of visiting tīrthas. He frames the journey as an ancient, kingly-sage tradition and reassures Yudhiṣṭhira that such a pilgrimage dispels fear and supports dharma.
