वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the dharmic value of tīrthas: sacred places are understood as distinct loci of merit and purification, preserved and validated by the presence of sages and the gods, encouraging reverence, restraint, and spiritual renewal through pilgrimage.
Vaiśampāyana describes a revered sacred region called Naimiṣa, characterized by the presence of divine seers and multiple distinct holy sites associated with different gods, setting the scene within the broader tīrtha-focused narration of the Vana Parva.
