Chapter 82
gatvā yatra mahāprājña viṣṇunā prabhaviṣṇunā | purā śaucaṃ kṛtaṃ rājan hatvā daiteya-dānavān ||
Even when violence is undertaken for dharma (such as removing destructive forces), the tradition emphasizes śauca—ritual and moral purification—afterward. The verse presents Viṣṇu as modeling restraint, accountability, and the maintenance of order through exemplary conduct.
The speaker points out a particular tīrtha and tells the king that Viṣṇu once came there and performed purification after killing the Daiteyas and Dānavas. The statement elevates the site’s sanctity by linking it to a divine precedent.
