Bṛhadaśva uvāca: samam eṣyasi dārais tvaṃ mā sma śoke manaḥ kṛthāḥ | rājyena tanayābhyāṃ ca satyam etad bravīmi te ||
The verse emphasizes steadiness of mind in adversity: one should not surrender to grief when restoration is possible; truthful reassurance and patience support dharma and right action.
Bṛhadaśva consoles the addressed person, promising that he will soon recover his wife, his two sons, and his kingdom all together, urging him to abandon sorrow and trust this truthful assurance.
