Sudeva Identifies Damayantī in Cedi (सुदेवेन दमयन्ती-परिचयः)
घोरान् नादान् विमुञ्चन्तो निपेतुर्धरणीतले । वृक्षेष्वारुह्मु संरब्धा: पतिता विषमेषु च,उनके बहुत-से ऊँट और घोड़े मारे गये और उस समुदायमें बहुत-से पैदल लोग भी थे। वे सब लोग उस समय भयसे चारों ओर भागते हुए एक-दूसरेसे टकराकर चोट खा जाते थे। घोर आर्तनाद करते हुए सभी लोग धरतीपर गिरने लगे। कुछ लोग बड़े वेगसे वृक्षोंपर चढ़ते हुए नीचेकी विषम भूमियोंपर गिर पड़ते थे
ghorān nādān vimuñcanto nipetur dharaṇītale | vṛkṣeṣv āruhya saṃrabdhāḥ patitā viṣameṣu ca ||
おぞましい叫び声をあげながら、彼らは地に倒れ伏した。狂乱の勢いで木に登る者もいたが、たちまち不整で危うい地面へと転げ落ちる――恐怖が秩序と自制を呑み込むさまの描写である。
