चिन्तयामास तत् कार्य सुमहत् स्वां सुतां प्रति । किमर्थ दुहिता मेउद्य नातिस्वस्थेव लक्ष्यते
cintayāmāsa tat kāryaṁ sumahat svāṁ sutāṁ prati | kimarthaṁ duhitā me 'dya nātisvastheva lakṣyate ||
ブリハダシュヴァは、自らの娘に関わるその重大事を深く思案した。「いかなる理由で、わが娘は今日、健やかならぬ者のように見えるのか。」この一句には、娘を守らんとする父の道義的な憂慮と責任が響き、目に見える苦悩の因を探ろうとする心が示されている。
