देवैरप्यापद: प्राप्ता#छन्नैश्व बहुशस्तथा । तत्र तत्र सपत्नानां निग्रहार्थ महात्मभि:,“महामना देवताओंको भी जहाँ-तहाँ शत्रुओंके निग्रहके लिये अनेक बार छिपकर रहना और विपत्तियोंको भोगना पड़ा है

devair apy āpadaḥ prāptāś channaiś ca bahuśas tathā | tatra tatra sapatnānāṁ nigrahārthaṁ mahātmabhiḥ ||

ヴァイシャンパーヤナは言った。神々でさえ災厄に遭ったことがある。しかも幾度となく、敵を鎮めるために、あの大いなる魂たちは此処彼処に身を潜め、逆境に耐えねばならなかった。すなわち、敵対する力を抑え秩序を守るために行うなら、苦難も戦略的な潜伏もまた正法にかなうのである。
