Shloka 28

वैशम्पायनजी कहते हैं--राजन्‌! ऐसा कहकर लोकरक्षक भगवान्‌ धर्म अन्तर्धान हो गये एवं सुखपूर्वक सोकर उठनेसे श्रमरहित हुए मनस्वी वीर पाण्डवगण एकत्र होकर आश्रममें लौट आये। वहाँ आकर उन्होंने उस तपस्वी ब्राह्मणको उसकी अरणी एवं मन्थनकाष्ठ दे दिये ।। इदं समुत्थानसमागतं महत्‌ पितुश्च पुत्रस्य च कीर्तिवर्धनम्‌ । पठन्‌ नर: स्याद्‌ विजितेन्द्रियो वशी सपुत्रपौत्र: शतवर्षभाग्‌ भवेत्‌,भीम, अर्जुन, नकुल और सहदेवके पुनः जीवनलाभ करनेसे सम्बन्ध रखनेवाले तथा पिता धर्म और पुत्र युधिष्ठिके संवाद तथा समागमरूप कीर्तिको बढ़ानेवाले इस प्रशस्त उपाख्यानका जो पुरुष पाठ करता है, वह जितेन्द्रिय, वशी तथा पुत्र-पौत्रोंसे सम्पन्न होकर सौ वर्षतक जीवित रहता है

vaiśampāyana uvāca—rājan, evaṃ uktvā lokarakṣako bhagavān dharmaḥ antardhānaṃ gataḥ. atha sukhapūrvakaṃ suptvā utthānena śramarahitāḥ manasvinaḥ vīrāḥ pāṇḍavāḥ sametya āśramaṃ pratyāgacchan. tatra āgatya te tasmai tapasvine brāhmaṇāya tasya araṇīṃ ca manthanakāṣṭhaṃ ca prāyacchan. idaṃ samutthāna-samāgataṃ mahat pituś ca putrasya ca kīrtivardhanam. paṭhan naraḥ syād vijitendriyo vaśī saputrapautraḥ śatavarṣabhāg bhavet.

ヴァイシャンパーヤナは語った。「王よ、このように告げ終えると、世を護る主ダルマは姿を消し、眼前より隠れ去った。ついで高邁なる心をもつ勇士パーンダヴァたちは、安らかに眠り、心地よく目覚めたゆえ疲れもなく、集い合って庵へと帰った。到着すると、苦行のブラーフマナに、火起こしのアラニー(火鑽木)と、摩擦して火を生む撹拌の杖とを返し渡した。 この大いなる吉祥の逸話—再会と回復に彩られたもの—は、父と子、すなわちダルマとユディシュティラの名声を増し高める。これを誦し語る者は自制を得て諸根を制し、子孫に恵まれ、百年の寿命を全うするであろう。」
