स सूतो भार्यया सार्थ विम्मयोत्फुल्ललोचन: । अड्कमारोप्य तं बालं भारया वचनमब्रवीत्,उसे देखकर पत्नीसहित सूतके नेत्रकमल आश्चर्य एवं प्रसन्नतासे खिल उठे। उसने बालकको गोदमें लेकर अपनी पत्नीसे कहा--
sa sūto bhāryayā sārthaṁ vismayotphullalocanaḥ | aṅkam āropya taṁ bālaṁ bhāryāyā vacanam abravīt ||
ヴァイシャンパーヤナは語った。御者は妻を伴ってその子を見、蓮の花のような目を驚きと喜びに大きく見開いた。少年を抱き上げて膝に載せ、妻に語りかけた――その言葉には驚嘆と、頼る者なき幼子を引き受けねばならぬという責めの念が芽生えていた。
