त्वयि वत्से पराश्चवस्य ब्राह्मणस्याभिराधनम् | तन्मे वाक्यममि थ्या त्वं कर्तुमहसि कहिचित्,“बेटी! तुमपर भरोसा करके ही मैंने इन तेजस्वी ब्राह्मणकी आराधना स्वीकार की है; अतः तुम मेरी बात कभी मिथ्या न होने दोगी, ऐसी आशा है
tvayi vatse parāśvasyā brāhmaṇasyābhirādhanam | tan me vākyam amithyā tvaṁ kartum arhasi karhi cit ||
「わが子よ、おまえを頼みとして、わたしはこの輝けるバラモンを敬い仕える務めを引き受けた。ゆえに、わたしの言葉が決して虚言とならぬようにせよ。」
वैशम्पायन उवाच
One should not let one’s spoken word become untrue: accepting a duty (here, honoring a brāhmaṇa) creates an ethical obligation to uphold truth, reliability, and proper conduct.
The speaker addresses a young woman affectionately and says that he undertook the responsibility of honoring a brāhmaṇa only because he trusted her support; he urges her to ensure that his promise and reputation for truth are not compromised.
