Mārkaṇḍeya uvāca: evam uktvā sa dharmātmā gurubhaktō gurupriyaḥ
The verse highlights an ethical ideal: true righteousness (dharmātmā) is expressed through humility and steadfast devotion to one’s teacher, and such conduct naturally makes one worthy and beloved (gurupriyaḥ).
Mārkaṇḍeya continues his narration, describing a person who, after speaking, is characterized as righteous and devoted to his guru—setting the moral tone for the action that follows in the surrounding passage.
