Ajñātavāsa-saṅkalpaḥ — Yudhiṣṭhira’s Resolve and Dhaumya’s Exempla on Concealment
सावित्रयुवाच ह्वतं पुरा मे श्वशुरस्य धीमतः स्वमेव राज्यं लभतां स पार्थिव: । जह्यात् स्वधर्म न च मे गुरुर्यथा द्वितीयमेतद् वरयामि ते वरम्,सावित्री बोली--मेरे बुद्धिमान् श्वशुरका राज्य, जो पहले उनसे छीन लिया गया है, उसे वे महराज पुनः प्राप्त कर लें तथा वे मेरे पूज्य गुरु महाराज द्युमत्सेन कभी अपना धर्म न छोड़ें; यही दूसरा वर मैं आपसे माँगती हूँ
sāvitry uvāca: hṛtaṃ purā me śvaśurasya dhīmataḥ svam eva rājyaṃ labhatāṃ sa pārthivaḥ | jahyāt svadharmaṃ na ca me gurur yathā dvitīyam etad varayāmi te varam ||
サーヴィトリーは言った。「久しい昔に自らの王国を奪われた、賢明なるわが舅が、そのままの主権を取り戻しますように。さらに、わが敬う長老—わが師(グル)たるデュマツェーナ王—が決して自らのダルマを捨てぬように。これこそ、あなたに願う第二の恩寵です。」
यम उवाच
Sāvitrī frames her request in terms of dharma: rightful kingship should be restored, and a respected elder should remain unwavering in svadharma. The verse highlights that true boons are those aligned with moral order and the stability of righteous life.
In the boon-granting dialogue, Sāvitrī asks that her father-in-law regain the kingdom previously taken from him and that he never fall away from his dharma. This is presented as her second boon.
