Kuntī’s Regulated Hospitality to a Brāhmaṇa Guest
तयोर्युद्धमभूद् घोरं हरिराक्षसवीरयो: । जिगीषतोर्युधान्योन्यमिन्द्रप्रह्मलादयोरिव,उन दोनों वानर तथा राक्षसवीरोंमें भयंकर युद्ध छिड़ गया। वे इन्द्र और प्रह्नादकी भाँति युद्ध करके एक-दूसरेको जीतना चाहते थे
tayor yuddham abhūd ghoraṃ harirākṣasavīrayoḥ | jigīṣator yudhānyonyam indraprahlādayor iva ||
マールカンデーヤは語った。「その二人の勇士—猿の武者と羅刹の武者—の間に、凄絶な戦いが起こった。両者は互いを打ち負かさんとし、昔のインドラとプラフラーダのごとく戦った。」
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
The verse highlights the psychology of combat: when both sides are driven by the desire to win, the struggle becomes ghora (terrible). Implicitly, it points to the ethical need for restraint and right intention even amid valor.
Mārkaṇḍeya describes a fierce duel between a monkey-hero and a rākṣasa-hero, each striving to defeat the other, compared to the famed opposition of Indra and Prahlāda.
