Sāvitrī’s Trirātra-Vrata and Departure with Satyavān (सावित्रीव्रतनिश्चयः सहगमनं च)

पुनर्जघान पाश्चे वै तद्‌ रक्षो लक्ष्मणो भृशम्‌ | गतासुरपतद्‌ भूमौ कबन्ध: सुमहांस्तत:,तदनन्तर बलवान सुमित्रानन्दन लक्ष्मणने भी अपने खड्गसे उसकी दाहिनी बाँह काट डाली और अपने भाई श्रीरामको खड़ा देखकर उन्होंने उसकी पसलीपर भी बड़े जोरसे प्रहार किया। फिर तो वह महान्‌ राक्षस कबन्ध प्राणशून्य होकर पृथ्वीपर गिर पड़ा

punar jaghāna pāśce vai tad rakṣo lakṣmaṇo bhṛśam | gatāsur apatat bhūmau kabandhaḥ sumahāṁs tataḥ |

マールカンデーヤは語った。するとラクシュマナは、その羅刹を背後からさらに激しく打ち据えた。命の息が尽き、巨大なカバンダは大地に倒れ伏した。この場面は、暴力の前に屈しない断固たる勇気と、ダルマにかなう義務として、兄と己を捕食する侵略者から守るべきことを示している。
