सहदेवो देवनद्यामपश्यन् मुनिसत्तमान् | तीर्थेष्वितस्ततस्तस्या विचचार गवेषयन्,सहदेवने जब देवनदीमें उन श्रेष्ठ मुनियोंको नहीं देखा, तब वे वहाँके तीर्थोंमें इधर-उधर खोजते हुए विचरने लगे
sahadevo devanadyām apaśyan munisattamān | tīrtheṣv itas tatastasyā vicacāra gaveṣayan ||
ヴァイシャムパーヤナは語った。「サハデーヴァは、デーヴァナディーと呼ばれる川辺にその最上の聖仙たちの姿を見いだせなかったので、彼はその川のティールタ(聖なる渡し場)をここかしこ巡り、敬虔に、そして怠りなく捜し歩いた。」
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights disciplined seeking: when guidance (the sages) is not immediately found, one should continue the search with perseverance and respect for dharmic spaces (tīrthas), rather than giving up or acting rashly.
Sahadeva arrives at the Devanadī and does not find the eminent sages he expected to meet. He then moves through the river’s various tīrthas, searching in different places along the sacred banks.
