रावण–मारीचसंवादः तथा मृगप्रलोभनपूर्वकं सीताहरणोपक्रमः

इह यत्‌ क्रियते कर्म तत्‌ परत्रोपभुज्यते । कर्मभूमिरियं ब्रह्मनू फलभूमिरसौ मता,इस मनुष्यलोकमें मानव-शरीरद्वारा जो कर्म किया जाता है, उसीको परलोकमें भोगा जाता है। ब्रह्म! यह कर्मभूमि और वह फलभोगकी भूमि मानी गयी है

iha yat kriyate karma tat paratro'pabhujyate | karmabhūmir iyaṃ brahmanū phalabhūmir asau matā ||

この人間界でなされるいかなる行為も、彼方の世界において経験され、味わわれる。おおブラーフマナよ、この世は業をなすための場と見なされ、かの世はその果報を味わう場と定められている。
