मარკण्डेयागमनम् तथा सत्यव्रत-उपदेशः

ज्याघोषश्लैव पार्थानां ब्रह्मघोषश्वन धीमताम्‌ । संसृष्टं ब्रह्मणा क्षत्रं भूय एव व्यरोचत,कुन्तीपुत्रोंके धनुषकी प्रत्यंचाका टंकार-शब्द और बुद्धिमान ब्राह्मणोंके वेदमन्त्रोंका घोष दोनों मिलकर ऐसे प्रतीत होते थे, मानो ब्राह्मणत्व और क्षत्रियत्वका सुन्दर संयोग हो रहा था

jyāghoṣaś caiva pārthānāṁ brahmaghoṣaś ca dhīmatām | saṁsṛṣṭaṁ brahmaṇā kṣatraṁ bhūya eva vyarocat ||

ヴァイシャンパーヤナは語った。パールタたちの弓弦の鳴りと、賢きバラモンたちが唱えるヴェーダ讃歌の厳かな声とが、同時に高く立ちのぼった。二つの響きが一つに溶け合うと、それは祭司の清浄なる聖性と王者の武勇との結合をいよいよ輝かせるかのようであった――力とは、聖なる知と厳しい自制に導かれるとき、最も善く発揮されるのだと示すかのように。
