Draupadī’s Identification of the Pāṇḍavas and the Onset of the Chariot Engagement (द्रौपदी-पाण्डव-परिचयः)
तस्माद हूं क्षमं मन्ये पाण्डवैस्तैर्महात्मभि: । संधिं संधिविदां श्रेष्ठ कुलस्यास्य विवृद्धये,“अतः संधिवेत्ताओंमें श्रेष्ठ नरेश! मैं तो इस कुलके अभ्युदयके लिये उन महात्मा पाण्डवोंके साथ संधि कर लेना ही उचित समझता हूँ
tasmād hi kṣamaṃ manye pāṇḍavaiḥ tair mahātmabhiḥ | sandhiṃ sandhividāṃ śreṣṭha kulasyāsya vivṛddhaye ||
「ゆえに、盟約に通じた者のうち最上の王よ、この一族の繁栄と強固のため、あの大いなる魂のパーンダヴァらと和約を結ぶのが相応しいと私は考える。」
वैशम्पायन उवाच
That wise statecraft aligned with dharma favors reconciliation: making a treaty with virtuous opponents can protect and advance the family’s welfare, whereas prideful conflict risks collective ruin.
A counsel is being reported in which the speaker recommends, addressing a master of diplomacy, that it is best to conclude peace with the great-souled Pāṇḍavas for the growth and stability of the lineage.
