अर्जुनस्य वधे क्रूरां करोति सम तदा मतिम् । इधर कर्ण भी नरकासुरकी अन्तरात्मासे आविष्टचित्त होनेके कारण अर्जुनका वध करनेके लिये क्रूरतापूर्ण संकल्प करने लगा
arjunasya vadhe krūrāṁ karoti saṁ tadā matim |
ヴァイシャンパーヤナは語った。「その時、彼はアルジュナの死をもたらさんと、苛烈にして容赦なき決意を固めた。内より圧倒され—ナラカースラに結びつく影響に心を奪われ—カルナはアルジュナを討つという残酷な断意へと傾いた。内なる憑依と抑え難い敵意が判断を歪め、人をアダルマへ駆り立てることを示すのである。」
