ヴァイシャムパーヤナは語った。カルナでさえ、内から湧き上がる地獄の衝動に心と内奥を奪われ、圧倒されて、内に憑かれたかのようになった。彼を動かしたのは澄んだ分別ではなく、暗く破滅的な決意であった。この一句は、内なる腐敗が判断を呑み込み、人を害ある選択へとねじ曲げうることを示している。
