दुर्योधनस्य प्रायोपवेशः — शकुनिसान्त्वनम् तथा कृत्याह्वानम्

Duryodhana’s Fast: Śakuni’s Consolation and the Summoning of a Kṛtyā

वचो भीष्मस्य राज्ञक्ष निशम्य गमन प्रति । व्यवसायं करिष्येडहमनुनीय पितामहम्‌,“पितामह भीष्मजीकी तथा महाराजकी वहाँ जानेके विषयमें क्या सम्मति है; यह सुन लेनेपर पितामहको अनुनय-विनयसे राजी करके (उनकी आज्ञा लेकर ही) द्वैतवनमें चलनेका निश्चय करूँगा'

vaiśampāyana uvāca | vaco bhīṣmasya rājñaś ca niśamya gamana-prati | vyavasāyaṁ kariṣye ’ham anunīya pitāmaham ||

ヴァイシャンパーヤナは語った。――旅立ちの議について、ビーシュマと王の言葉を聞き終えたのち、私は祖父ビーシュマに恭しく願い出て、その同意を得てからこそ出立を決するであろう。この一節は、軽々しく事を運ばず、長老への敬意と正しい諫言に従って行動すべきだという、慎重で義にかなった決断を示している。
