ṛṣaya ūcuḥ—hiraṇyagarbha bhadraṁ te lokānāṁ śaṅkaro bhava | tvayā ṣaḍrātrajātēna sarve lokā vaśīkṛtāḥ ||
Power and sovereignty are praised only when oriented toward śaṅkara—welfare and auspiciousness for all beings. The sages bless Hiraṇyagarbha and implicitly frame dominion as legitimate when it becomes protective and beneficent rather than merely coercive.
In Markandeya’s narration, the sages address Hiraṇyagarbha, offering a benediction and expressing wonder that, though newly born (only six nights), he has already brought all the worlds under his control—signaling a cosmic, creator-like authority.
