Citrasena and the Kaurava engagement
अतीव शुशुभे तत्र पूज्यमानो महर्षिभि: | तत्र तत् काउ्चनं छत्र प्रियमाणं व्यरोचत
atīva śuśubhe tatra pūjyamāno maharṣibhiḥ | tatra tat kāñcanaṃ chatraṃ prīyamāṇaṃ vyarocat ||
その場で彼は大聖仙たちに崇敬され、比類なき輝きを放っていた。まさにその所で、敬愛をこめて名誉のしるしとして授けられた黄金の天蓋が、彼の上にまばゆくきらめいていた。
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
True honor is grounded in dharma: when the wise (maharṣis) revere someone, that public recognition—symbolized by the golden parasol—reflects spiritual merit and ethical stature rather than mere power.
Mārkaṇḍeya describes a scene where a person is being respectfully honored by great sages; in that setting a golden parasol shines conspicuously, functioning as a visible emblem of esteem and auspicious distinction.
