This line is a colophon marking the close of a chapter and situating the episode within the Mahābhārata’s larger structure. Ethically, it frames the narrative as part of a tradition where divine order is restored—symbolized by Skanda’s emergence and the defeat of Keśin—reinforcing the idea that adharma is ultimately overcome.
The verse is not spoken dialogue but an editorial/structural closing statement: it announces that the chapter has concluded, identifies the Parva (Vana Parva), the sub-section connected with Mārkaṇḍeya’s narration, and notes that this chapter belonged to the episode concerning Skanda’s birth and Keśin’s defeat.
