Educational Q&A

The verse highlights tapas and spiritual potency as forces that uphold and manifest cosmic order: a realized sage, aligned with divine principles (symbolized by Agni), can accomplish world-sustaining acts that inspire awe and reaffirm dharma’s underlying structure.

Markandeya narrates a marvel: Atharvan, after beholding Agni, creates the worlds by his own power and churns the great ocean in the sight of all beings—an image of primordial activity associated with the emergence and ordering of creation.
