Educational Q&A

The verse emphasizes ordered creation: cosmic principles (elements and presiding deities) are established first, and then ancestral continuity is secured through offspring for the Pitṛs—highlighting dharma as the maintenance of world-order through both cosmology and lineage/ritual obligations.

Mārkaṇḍeya describes a stage of creation in which beings/elements and divine functionaries are produced, followed by the generation of sons connected to the Pitṛs, ensuring the continuation of ancestral rites and the stability of the created world.
