Adhyāya 22: Śālva’s Weapon-Shower, Dāruka’s Wounding, and the Māyā-Report of Vasudeva’s Father
रूप॑ सुदर्शनस्थासीदाकाशे पततस्तदा । द्वितीयस्येव सूर्यस्य युगान्ते प्रपतिष्यत:,आकाशमें जाते ही उस सुदर्शन चक्रका स्वरूप प्रलयकालमें उगनेवाले द्वितीय सूर्यके समान प्रकाशित हो उठा
rūpaṃ sudarśanasthāsīd ākāśe patatas tadā | dvitīyasyeva sūryasya yugānte prapatiṣyataḥ ||
ヴァーユは言った。「それが天空へと飛び去るや、スダルシャナ(Sudarśana)の円盤は姿も光も燃え立ち、劫末に昇る第二の太陽のごとく輝いた。まるで世界が滅尽へと突き進むかのようであった。」
वायुदेव उवाच
The verse uses apocalyptic imagery to convey the overwhelming, world-ordering force of divine weapons: when dharma is protected or restored, the power involved can appear cosmic in scale, inspiring reverence and restraint rather than mere fascination with violence.
Vāyudeva describes the Sudarśana discus as it moves through the sky; its brilliance is compared to a second sun at the end of the yuga, emphasizing its terrifying radiance and extraordinary potency.
