अग्निवंशवर्णनम् (Agni-vaṃśa-varṇana) / The Genealogy and Function of Agni
एते पञ्चदश ब्रह्मन् गुणा भूतेषु पजचसु । वर्तन्ते सर्वभूतेषु येषु लोका: प्रतिछ्ठिता:,ब्रह्मन! इस प्रकार पाँचों भूतोंमें ये पंद्रह गुण बताये गये हैं। इन्हींमें सम्पूर्ण लोक प्रतिष्ठित हैं
ete pañcadaśa brahman guṇā bhūteṣu pañcasu | vartante sarvabhūteṣu yeṣu lokāḥ pratiṣṭhitāḥ ||
狩人は言った。「おお婆羅門よ、この十五の性質は五大(地・水・火・風・空)に宿る。これらは一切の生きとし生けるもののうちに働き、諸世界もまたそれらの上に据えられている。」文脈においてこの教えは倫理的な実在観を示す。すべての生類が同じ元素的構成を分かち合うと知れば、謙虚さと自制、そして不害(アヒンサー)へと心が向かう。根本の性質は万人に遍満しているからである。
व्याध उवाच
All beings and even the structure of the worlds rest on shared elemental qualities. Recognizing this common foundation encourages ethical conduct—humility, self-control, and compassion—because no creature is fundamentally separate from another in its basic constitution.
The hunter is instructing a Brahmin in a doctrinal explanation: he enumerates that fifteen qualities belong to the five elements and pervade all beings, using this cosmological framework to support a broader moral and spiritual lesson.
