Educational Q&A

The verse cultivates awe toward the cosmic order: even the greatest mountains—symbols of stability and grandeur—are presented as objects within a larger, mysterious reality. This encourages humility and reverence, aligning the listener with dharma through recognition of a world far exceeding personal scale.

Vaiśampāyana narrates a visionary experience, listing sacred mountains he ‘sees’ (Meru, Mahendra, Vindhya). The passage functions as a catalogue of sacred geography within a marvel-filled episode, emphasizing the extraordinary setting and the narrator’s direct perception.
