नौस्थश्न मां प्रतीक्षेथास्ततो मुनिजनप्रिय । आगमिष्याम्यहं शुद्भी विज्ञेयस्तेन तापस,“मुनिजनोंके प्रेमी तपस्वी नरेश! उस नावमें बैठे रहकर आप मेरी प्रतीक्षा कीजियेगा। मैं आपके पास अपने मस्तकमें सींग धारण किये आऊँगा। उसीसे आप मुझे पहचान लेंगे। इस प्रकार यह सब कार्य आपको करना है। अब मैं आपसे आज्ञा चाहता हूँ और यहाँसे जाता हूँ। उस महान् जलराशिको आपलोग मेरी सहायताके बिना पार नहीं कर सकेंगे
nausthaś ca māṃ pratīkṣethās tato munijanapriya | āgamiṣyāmy ahaṃ śṛṅgī vijñeyas tena tāpasa ||
マールカンデーヤは言った。「苦行の王よ、聖仙たちに愛されし者よ、舟に座して我を待て。われは頭に角を戴いて戻るであろう。その徴によって汝は我を識る。必ずこのとおりにせよ。いま我は暇を乞い、ここを去る——我が助けなくしては、汝らはこの広大なる水の大海を渡り切れぬ。」
