Sarasvatī–Tārkṣya Saṃvāda: Agnihotra-vidhi, Dāna-phala, and Mokṣa-prasaṅga (सरस्वती–तार्क्ष्यसंवादः)

आयुषोबचन्ते प्रहायेदं क्षीणप्रायं कलेवरम्‌ | सम्भवत्येव युगपद्‌ योनौ नास्त्यन्तराभव:,यह मनुष्य ईश्वरके रचे हुए पूर्वशरीरके द्वारा (अन्तःकरणमें) शुभ और अशुभ कर्मोंकी बहुत बड़ी राशि संचित कर लेता है। फिर आयु पूरी होनेपर वह इस जरा-जर्जर स्थूल शरीरका त्याग करके उसी क्षण किसी दूसरी योनि (शरीर)-में प्रकट होता है। एक शरीरको छोड़ने और दूसरेको ग्रहण करनेके बीचमें क्षणभरके लिये भी वह असंसारी नहीं होता

āyuṣo bacante prahāyedaṃ kṣīṇaprāyaṃ kalevaram | sambhavaty eva yugapad yonau nāsty antarābhavaḥ ||

マールカンデーヤは語った。「定められた寿命が尽きると、人は老い朽ちかけたこの身を捨てる。その同じ瞬間に、別の胎(別の受身)に生まれるのであり、その間に中間の状態はない。ゆえに衆生は、積み重ねた善悪の業力を携え、ひとときたりとも『世を離れたもの』とはならない—存在は一つの身体から次の身体へと切れ目なく続くのだ。」
