Indra’s Meeting with the Pāṇḍavas
na bhīmasene kopo me prīto ’smi bharatarṣabha | karmaṇā bhīmasenasya mama tuṣṭir abhūt purā ||
The verse highlights ethical discernment in judgment: anger should not be held where merit and righteous action are evident. Worthy deeds (karma) can earn trust and satisfaction, encouraging leaders to evaluate conduct fairly rather than reactively.
Vaiśampāyana reports that the speaker (addressing a Bharata prince as ‘bharatarṣabha’) explicitly withdraws any suspicion or displeasure toward Bhīmasena, affirming continued approval based on Bhīma’s past and present actions.
