Adhyāya 160: Dikpāla-Cosmography and the Sun’s Kālacakra
na tāta capalair bhāvyam iha prāptaḥ kathaṃcana | uṣitveha yathākāmaṃ yathāśraddhaṃ vihṛtya ca || tataḥ śastrajitāṃ tāta pṛthivīṃ pālayiṣyasi |
The verse teaches steadiness and disciplined conduct: one should not act capriciously after entering a sacred or purposeful setting. Fulfil one’s stay with reverence (śraddhā) and only then return to worldly duty—here, the kṣatriya responsibility of governing the realm.
A sage (Āśiṣiṇ) addresses a younger person affectionately as “tāta,” advising him to remain calmly in the present place, to spend time there in a manner guided by faith, and afterward to return to the political sphere to rule the earth/kingdom gained through martial means.
