The verse highlights the idea of tejas—an inner, spiritual radiance—so powerful that it can outshine even the Sun. Ethically, it frames true greatness as a cosmic, beneficent potency that inspires reverence and recognition of the divine order beyond ordinary measures.
Arjuna addresses a great, exalted being (called bhūtātman) and marvels that this figure, positioned on the Sun’s chariot and spread through heaven and the sky, radiates so intensely that even the Sun seems further illuminated.
