वैशम्पायन उवाच
As a colophon-style concluding line, it primarily signals closure and textual organization rather than giving a new doctrinal teaching; implicitly, it situates the narrative within the dharmic practice of tīrthayātrā (pilgrimage) as a valued path of purification and merit in the epic’s ethical world.
The narrator (Vaiśampāyana) marks the completion of the chapter whose topic is the journey to Mount Mahendra, presented within the broader pilgrimage account associated with the sage Lomāśa in the Tīrthayātrā portion of the Vana Parva.
