ह्ृते पशौ तदा देवास्तमूचुर्भरतर्षभ । मा परस्वमभिद्रोग्धा मा धर्मानू सकलान् वशी:,भरतश्रेष्ठी] पशुका अपहरण हो जानेपर देवताओंने उनसे कहा--“आप दूसरोंके धनसे द्रोह न करें (दूसरोंके हिस्सेको न लें) धर्मके साधनभूत समस्त यज्ञभागोंको लेनेकी इच्छा न करें!
hṛte paśau tadā devās tam ūcur bharatarṣabha | mā parasvam abhidroghdhā mā dharmānū sakalān vaśī ||
供犠の獣が奪い去られると、神々は彼に告げた。「バーラタ族の雄牛よ、他人の財に敵意を向けてはならぬ――他者のものを奪うな。自らの我執によって、ダルマを成り立たせる祭儀の分け前をすべて取り込もうと望んではならぬ。」
