「汝は我を侮り、この言葉を行おうとしない。ゆえに――ドゥリヨーダナよ――その驕りの果をただちに受けよ。」
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Disrespecting rightful counsel and clinging to abhimāna (arrogant self-importance) is adharma-like conduct that produces swift, tangible consequences; the verse emphasizes moral causality—pride is not merely an inner flaw but a cause of immediate downfall.
In Vaiśampāyana’s narration, a speaker addresses Duryodhana directly, rebuking him for ignoring advice and declaring that he will at once reap the result of his pride—an ominous turning point that foreshadows harm arising from obstinacy.
