Kṛṣṇa’s Counsel to Dhṛtarāṣṭra in the Assembly
आसाद्य तु सभाद्वारमृषभ: सर्वसात्वताम् | अवतीर्य रथाच्छौरि: कैलासशिखरोपमात्
āsādya tu sabhādvāram ṛṣabhaḥ sarvasātvatām | avatīrya rathāc chauriḥ kailāsaśikharopamāt ||
王の सभा の門に至ると、サートヴァタ族の中でも第一のシュアウリは、カイラーサ山の峰にも譬えられる戦車から降り立った。この場面は、重大な政局における威厳ある自制と慎重な振る舞いを示す—至高の武威を備えながらも、彼は力ではなく、節度ある礼法をもって宮廷に臨むのである。
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights disciplined, dharmic comportment in public and political spaces: even the most powerful figure approaches the assembly with humility and propriety, signaling respect for institutions and a preference for counsel over coercion.
Vaiśampāyana narrates that Śauri (Kṛṣṇa), described as the foremost among the Sātvatas, arrives at the entrance of the assembly hall and steps down from his magnificent chariot, compared in grandeur to the peak of Mount Kailāsa.
