वेदानेकेन सो5धीते सुरामेकेन चापिबत् । एकेन च दिश: सर्वा: पिबन्निव निरीक्षते
vedānekēna so 'dhīte surām ekēna cāpibat | ekena ca diśaḥ sarvāḥ pibann iva nirīkṣate |
シャリヤは言った。「一つの口で彼はヴェーダを誦し、もう一つの口で酒を飲み、さらに別の口で四方を睨みつけ、まるで方角そのものを飲み干さんばかりであった。」この一句は、聖なる学びの外形と放縦・貪欲が並び立つ不穏な姿を描き、真の克己ではなく偽りと制御なき欲望を示している。
