Dhṛtarāṣṭra Addressed on Sincerity, Hospitality, and Settlement
यावन्ति वाहनान्यस्य यावन्तः पुरुषाश्च ते । ततोड॒ष्टगुणमप्यस्मै भोज्यं दास्याम्यहं सदा,श्रीकृष्णके साथ जितने वाहन और जितने सेवक आयेंगे उन सबको औसतसे आठगुना भोजन मैं प्रत्येक समय देता रहूँगा
yāvanti vāhanāny asya yāvantaḥ puruṣāś ca te | tato ’ṣṭaguṇam apy asmai bhojyaṁ dāsyāmy ahaṁ sadā ||
ドリタラーシュトラは言った。「彼に随行する車がいくつであろうと、またそれと共に来る者がいかほどであろうと、私は常にその数を基準として、食糧—糧食—を八倍にして供給しよう。」
धृतराष्ट उवाच
The verse highlights the dharma of hospitality and royal responsibility: a ruler should honor and provide for a distinguished guest and his retinue generously, even when political circumstances are strained.
Dhṛtarāṣṭra declares that he will supply Kṛṣṇa (and those who come with him) with food and provisions in abundance—eight times the expected measure—signaling formal welcome and diplomatic courtesy in the lead-up to major conflict.
