अर्जुनोक्तिः—कृष्णं प्रति पुरुषकार‑कर्म‑विचारः

Arjuna’s Address to Krishna: Agency, Action, and Immediate Counsel

मनोभाव बदल जाय अथबवा प्रारब्धके अनुसार कोई विपरीत घटना घटित हो जाय, तो भी सहसा अपने तेज और उत्साहको सर्वथा नहीं छोड़ना चाहिये। विषाद एवं ग्लानिका अनुभव नहीं करना चाहिये--यह बात भी मैंने तुम्हें आवश्यक समझकर बतायी है ।।

manobhāva badala jāya athavā prārabdhake anusāra koī viparīta ghaṭanā ghaṭita ho jāya, to'pi sahasā svaṃ tejaś ca utsāhaṃ ca sarvathā na tyajet. viṣādaṃ ca glāniṃ ca na anubhaveta—iti'pi mayā tubhyaṃ āvaśyakaṃ manyamānena niveditam. śvobhūte dhṛtarāṣṭrasya samīpaṃ prāpya pāṇḍava, yatiṣye praśamaṃ kartuṃ yuṣmad-artham ahāpayan, pāṇḍunandana! kala sarvere (sarveṣām) ahaṃ rājānaṃ dhṛtarāṣṭraṃ samīpaṃ gatvā yuṣmākaṃ svārtha-siddhau tanik api bādhāṃ na prāpayan ubhayor api pakṣayoḥ sandhiṃ kārayituṃ prayatiṣye.

たとえ心のありさまが変わろうとも、あるいは宿業に従って逆事が起ころうとも、にわかに気力と意気を捨て去ってはならぬ。憂いにも、内なる倦怠にも屈してはならぬ——それもまた必要と思い、汝に告げた。 明日、パーンドゥの子よ、私は持国王ドリタラーシュトラの御前に赴き、汝らのために和を成さんと努める。両陣営の間に和議を結ばせ、汝らの正当な目的の成就に、わずかな妨げすら生じぬよう尽力しよう。
