Reconciling Contingency and Human Effort
paśyeme rodasī kṛṣṇa yayorāsann imāḥ prajāḥ
Bhīma invokes “the two worlds” to stress that human choices—especially those leading to war—carry consequences that touch the whole moral and cosmic order. The verse frames political conflict as an ethical matter with universal scope.
In Udyoga Parva, as tensions move toward open war, Bhīmasena addresses Kṛṣṇa and points to the vastness of the worlds in which all beings live, heightening the seriousness of the decisions and actions about to be taken.
