「おまえは、おまえに悪意を抱く者たちの歓びを増し、同時に私の嘆きをも増している。ビーマセーナに討たれるその時、父の言葉を思い出すであろう。」
दुर्योधन उवाच
Ignoring righteous counsel and pursuing power at the cost of elders’ guidance leads to self-destruction: one ends up strengthening enemies and causing sorrow to one’s own family, and only in ruin does one recall the warnings that could have prevented it.
In the Udyoga Parva’s pre-war counsel, Duryodhana is warned that his obstinacy will please hostile rivals and deepen his mother’s grief; the warning culminates in the prediction that he will be killed by Bhīmasena, at which point he will remember his father Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s advice.
