Udyoga Parva Adhyāya 58 — Saṃjaya’s Audience and Kṛṣṇa’s Deterrent Counsel
yat tad virāṭanagare śrūyate mahadadbhutam | ekasya ca bahūnāṁ ca paryāptaṁ tannidarśanam ||
A well-attested example can serve as decisive evidence: the famed ‘one versus many’ feat at Virāṭa is invoked to validate the speaker’s preceding claim, implying that extraordinary success arises from true prowess aligned with rightful purpose and (implicitly) divine favor.
Vāyudeva points to the widely known report of the astonishing combat at Virāṭanagara—where Arjuna stood alone against many Kauravas—as a concrete illustration that confirms the truth of what he has just stated.
