Udyoga-parva Adhyāya 50 — Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s Appraisal of Bhīmasena (भीमसेनभयवर्णनम्)
द्यूतप्रमुखमा भाति कुरूणां व्यसनं महत् । मन्देनैश्वर्यकामेन लोभात् पापमिदं कृतम्,द्यूतक्रीड़ा आदिकी घटनाएँ ही कौरवोंपर भारी विपत्ति लानेका कारण प्रतीत होती हैं। ऐश्वर्यकी इच्छा रखनेवाले मूर्ख दुर्योधनने लोभवश यह पाप किया है
dyūtapramukham ābhāti kurūṇāṁ vyasanaṁ mahat | mandena aiśvaryakāmena lobhāt pāpam idaṁ kṛtam ||
ドリタラーシュトラは言った。「クル族の大いなる災厄は、賭博に端を発したように思われる。この罪は、王権と力を渇望する愚かなドゥルヨーダナが、貪欲ゆえに犯したのだ。」
