Sañjaya’s Report
यदा द्रष्टा संजयानामनीके धृष्टय्युम्न॑ प्रमुखे रोचमानम् । अस्त्र॑ यस्मै गुह्मुमुवाच धीमान् द्रोणस्तदा तप्स्यति धार्तराष्ट्र:
yadā draṣṭā sañjayānām anīke dhṛṣṭadyumnam pramukhe rocamānam | astraṁ yasmai guhyaṁ uvāca dhīmān droṇas tadā tapsyati dhārtarāṣṭraḥ ||
サञ्जयは言った。持国の子（ドゥルヨーダナ）が、パーンダヴァ軍の最前列に輝くドリシュタデュムナを見たとき、彼は深く苦しむであろう。なぜなら、かの賢き師ドローナが、かつて武芸の秘奥、その内なる要訣を授けたのは、まさにその男であったからだ。その光景は教えを皮肉へと変える。信頼のうちに授けられたものが、今や戦場で脅威として立ち現れ、ドゥルヨーダナの心は凶兆と悔恨に燃え上がる。
