Sañjaya’s Envoy-Speech on Peace

तेनानुबन्ध॑ मन्यते धारतराष्ट्र: शक्यं हर्तु पाण्डवानां ममत्वम्‌ | किरीटिना तालमात्रायुधेन तद्वेदिना संयुगं तत्र गत्वा

tenānubandhaṁ manyate dhṛtarāṣṭraḥ śakyaṁ hartuṁ pāṇḍavānāṁ mamatvam | kirīṭinā tālamātrāyudhena tadvedinā saṁyugaṁ tatra gatvā ||

サンジャヤは言った。「ダリタラーシュトラよ、彼はパーンダヴァの正当な権利と王国への帰属の思いを断ち切れると考えている。だがそれを成すには、戦場に降り立ち、冠を戴くアルジュナと相まみえねばならぬ――タ―ラの尺度に及ぶ長弓を携え、弓術の学に通暁した達人と。『容易に』奪えると思うこと自体が道義の盲目である。強く、巧みで、しかも正義を負う者たちに戦を挑むことになるのだから。」
