आज म्मु: पृथिवीपाला: कम्पयन्त इवाचलान् । जयद्रथ आदि अन्य राजा, जो सिन्धु और सौवीरदेशके निवासी थे, पर्वतोंको कँपाते हुए-से दुर्योधनके पास आये
Vaiśaṃpāyana uvāca: ājagmuḥ pṛthivīpālāḥ kampayanta ivācalān | Jayadrathādayo 'nye rājānaḥ Sindhu-Sauvīradeśa-nivāsinaḥ parvatān kampayanta iva Duryodhanam upāgaman |
ヴァイシャンパーヤナは語った。「大地を守る諸王は、まるで山々を揺るがすかのような勢いで到来した。シンドゥ(Sindhu)とサウヴィーラ(Sauvīra)の地に住むジャヤドラタ(Jayadratha)らの王たちは、力と壮麗な行列をもってドゥルヨーダナのもとへ来たため、山岳さえ震えるかと見えた。この場面は、世俗の権勢が野心の周りに集まり、争いへ向かう勢いを膨らませていくさまを示している。」
वैशमग्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights how the accumulation of political power and alliances can intensify adharma-driven ambition, creating an unstoppable momentum toward war; it implicitly cautions that might and numbers do not equal righteousness.
Jayadratha and other kings from Sindhu and Sauvīra arrive to join/meet Duryodhana, their grand approach described hyperbolically as if it makes mountains tremble—signaling the consolidation of Kaurava support.
